Spain’s Renfe Alta Velocidad (AVE), the country’s high-speed train operator, is to invest €164.1 million updating and upgrading its ticket sales and reservation system.

The investment will allow all sales to be processed via the Renfe website, which has 11.5 million visits per month.

The rail company will use new cloud technology to develop and update its other sales channels, including the app, ticket offices, agencies and self-service machines.

It will also improve its passenger access systems, such as check-in and access to the club lounge.

For the design, development, maintenance and operation of Renfe’s new ticket sales and reservation system, a €78.6 million contract has been awarded to the Temporary Joint Venture Accenture y Evolutio Cloud Enable.

Another contract of €85.5 million euros has been awarded to Sqills Products BV, for the implementation, configuration and operation of a Passenger Service System.

In July the high-speed train operator launched two new routes linking Barcelona and Madrid to key cities in France.
