A former winner of the Mercury Business Awards has clinched another title for his policing app.
Paul Cooper won the East Midlands Family Business of the Year award from the Federation of Small Businesses for Pocket Sergeant Ltd.
Ten years ago, Paul was working as a police officer when his paper-based guides were blown into a muddy puddle.
Deciding that there must be a better way to work, he created designs for a digital reference guide for police officers and sought the help of an app developer.
The guide provides police officers with the tools they need to carry out their daily duties more efficiently.

Paul, from Greatford, said: “Pocket Sergeant has been successful in generating profits whilst also prioritising the needs and feedback of our users.”
The business will now compete in the UK final on May 18 at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham.
After that, Paul plans to launch a new mobile application which will help to locate missing people who habe specific mental health conditions.
