Dwayne Johnson took to Instagram to confirm that production on Amazon Studios’ upcoming holiday action film Red One has finally been completed. The film is currently on track for a 2023 release.
Johnson also shared another behind-the-scenes photo, giving us a new look at his character’s red and black jumpsuit. In his post, the Black Adam star opened up about his experience filming the project, describing it as an “absolute privilege.”
Red One is being directed and produced by Jake Kasdan, who reunites with Johnson after working together on the blockbuster Jumanji films. It is also written by Fast and Furious‘ Chris Morgan, based on a story conceived by Hiram Garcia.
In addition to Chris Evans and Dwayne Johnson, the film will also star Lucy Liu, Kiernan Shipka, Kristofer Hivju, Nick Kroll, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, and Wesley Kimmel. Further details about its plot and characters are still being kept under wraps, but it is described as a globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy that imagines a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre.
The project is produced by Morgan, Melvin Mar, and Sky Salem Robinson, along with Johnson, Hiram Garcia, and Dany Garcia for Seven Bucks Productions.
