A national chicken fingers chain is looking to open a new location in Greendale.
Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is proposing to open a restaurant with a drive-thru at 5250 S. 76th St., the current location of DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse.
The restaurant’s hours are proposed to be from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 9:30 a.m. to 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday, according to a business and operational plan submitted to the village.
Along with dine-in and drive-thru options, Raising Cane’s would offer take-out and mobile ordering, according to the business plan. The restaurant would have approximately 55 full-time and part-time employees.
On March 21, the Greendale Village Board referred the restaurant’s special use application to the village’s planning commission and planning consultant, Greendale Assistant Village Manager Sarah Weishar said.
The planning commission is set to review it April 12.
If approved by the village, the restaurant’s timetable for opening isn’t clear. Raising Cane’s could not immediately be reached for an interview.
The plan calls for the DSW to close at that location, according to Greendale Village Manager Mike Hawes. The building would then be razed and replaced with a Raising Cane’s on one half and another business on the other half.
The Greendale proposal is part of Raising Cane’s push to open 10 new restaurants in the Milwaukee area. The company plans to open locations in Brookfield and Kenosha in 2023.
Raising Cane’s was founded by Todd Graves in 1996 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and is known for its “great crew, cool culture and active community involvement,” according to its website.
