QPR striker Sinclair Armstrong is looking to continue the feel-good factor against Sunderland on Saturday after making his debut for the Republic of Ireland.

The Rs front man came on a second-half substitute in Ireland’s 2-1 defeat to the Netherlands last Sunday in what has been a positive start for the season for the 20-year-old. And he’s hoping to maintain his good form when the Black Cats come to Loftus Road as the Championship campaign gets back under way following the international break.

“It’s a very proud day for my family and I’m only going to use this as motivation to go back to QPR and try kick on now,” said Armstrong told Off the Ball. “We obviously have a very big game at the weekend against Sunderland, so hopefully I can get straight back into it.

“The boys will hopefully get another win at the weekend. Everything has happened so quickly, even as we’re talking my phone is buzzing. Everything has happened so fast, but I give all the glory to God.

“This is something you pray for and this is something that you dream about as a little kid. I remember being a 15-year-old, having a video of FAITV, and I said ‘hopefully I can play in the Aviva Stadium one day’ and I’m after doing it now so, it’s a proud day for my family and hopefully there are more moments like this to come.”

Sinclair has played in all five league game for Gareth Ainsworth’s side this season, scoring in the 2-1 win over Cardiff City in August. and playing a key role as QPR signed off before the international break with a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough. The Hoops currently sit 17th in the table, one point behind ninth-placed Sunderland.
