The Promod Couture project, which was started in 2020 by five DIY-inclined workers of the firm, has grown recently thanks to the acquisition of two sewing kit companies, Fier comme un paon and Louis Antoinette Paris.

The moment has come for traditional women’s fashion retailers to expand their business and services through initiatives that include customers and foster communication with brands, despite the industry’s overall decline. With the production of cloth masks by individuals and a resurgence in sewing machine interest during the lockdowns, Promod is concentrating on sewing, which increased throughout the pandemic.

“This new stage in the development of the Promod Couture label will enable us to offer new patterns and ready-to-sew kits to our customers on a more regular basis. A first banana bag in a ready-to-sew kit will soon be available,” says the brand.

The French firm Fier comme un paon, founded in 2018 with the goal of making sewing accessible to as many people as possible, was forced to stop operating in June 2022 owing to financial issues. In 2015, Louis Antoinette Paris began selling patterns and fabrics. A few years later, Fier comme un paon acquired the business.

Now, Promod Couture sells patterns for 9 euros as well as three-meter lengths of fabric from its unused inventories, including cotton, polyester, viscose, lyocell, and more, for prices ranging from € 14 to € 30.

The 1975-founded company, which updated its visual identity the previous year, declares that it is “eager to promote its textile know-how and enable a wide community of seamstresses to develop their own innovations and assist the industry evolve towards more responsible clothes.”
