Premier Inn has continued its expansion in the UK by adding another 11 properties over the past year.
The budget chain, which is owned by Whitbread, said it had grown its UK footprint by 1,500 rooms in 12 months, following the opening of the Hub by Premier Inn Clerkenwell in London.
Other recent debuts include another two London-based hotels in Canary Wharf and Paddington Basin, as well as properties in Milton Keynes, Cumbria and the Channel Island of Jersey.
Alex Flach, UK development director for Whitbread, said the openings showed how active Premier Inn has been in opening new hotels after identifying “market potential” to increase from its current 82,000 rooms up to 125,000 rooms in the UK and Ireland.
“They also clearly demonstrate the strength of our design and construction capabilities, often in sensitive and constrained locations,” added Flach. “We completed some highly complex developments during the last financial year, growing our estate in popular, sought-after locations.”
Whitbread said it was currently looking to secure new Premier Inn properties in more than 160 locations in the UK and Ireland.
