On Nov. 16, POSCO Group held POSCO Group Tech Day at Renault’s R&D Center in France and introduced its key eco-friendly future material technologies and main products, as announced on Nov. 19.
The event was attended by over 600 people, including Kim Ji-yong, CTO of POSCO Holdings and head of the Future Technology Research Institute; Hong Young-jun, head of POSCO Holdings Secondary Battery Material Research Institute; Seo Yu-ran, head of POSCO’s Automotive Material Marketing Division; Kim Sung-yeon, head of POSCO’s Steel Solution Research Institute; Cedric Combemorel, vice president of Engineering & Project at Renault, and employees from Renault Group’s technical and procurement departments.
POSCO Group, maintaining a close cooperative relationship with Renault Group, a global automotive company, in the steel sector, hosted this Tech Day to strengthen their strategic partnership in steel and expand their technical cooperation to secondary battery materials and hydrogen fields.
POSCO Group displayed its core steel products for automobile bodies and chassis, electrical steel plates for eco-friendly car motors, and technologies related to secondary battery materials like lithium, nickel, cathodes/anodes, and the hydrogen business. They discussed various technical cooperation plans with Renault Group in fields like steel, secondary battery materials, and hydrogen vehicles.
Especially in the steel sector, they introduced “Greenate STEEL,” lightweight next-generation electric vehicle platforms, and multi-materials, and discussed joint development plans for Giga Steel.
