Sega has yet to formally announce what it’s doing with the next entries in the Jet Set Radio and Persona franchises. But it seems like plans for both may have leaked out early since short snippets of an alleged Persona 3 remake and a new Jet Set Radio have made their way online.
A Twitter user AVtoGAMEnoYAMI posted a video of Persona 3‘s Yukari shooting arrows in a way that is much more elaborate than a similar move in the other versions of the RPG. It looks closer to Persona 5 than any of port of Persona 3. It’s unclear what this is from since the user said they only got it from a DM and that person didn’t reply back. They followed up shortly after saying the video was from an internal Sega meeting from 2021, which had a then-unannounced Sonic Frontiers in it, too.
Two of the greatest Japanese role-playing games ever made have finally arrived on modern gaming systems in high definition as…
Given how it has Yukari and an elaborate battle animation, it’s thought to be from an unannounced Persona 3 remake. Multiple rumors have been floating around about this alleged remake for a few months, something Gematsu corroborated with this recent video. Developer Atlus also noted that it was “preparing several unannounced titles” around the new year.
Another Twitter user pointed out a possible domain name for the Persona 3 remake. It was registered in March 2023 and has the same domain provider as Persona 5 Royal site.
The new Jet Set Radio was also part of that montage and shows the protagonist Beat dancing in his skates in a way that far outclasses the Dreamcast original and Xbox sequel. Jet Set Radio was included in a financial call from 2021 as one potential series to reboot, remake, or remaster. A Bloomberg report from April 2022 noted that Sega was indeed making a “big-budget” Jet Set Radio as part of its “Super Game” initiative. Jet Set Radio artist Ryuta Ueda also returned to Sega in 2021 after a long hiatus from the gaming industry and said he was going to “focus on making games again.”
Twitter user Genki_JPN then posted an alleged image of this new game saying it was modeled after the Shibuya ward in Tokyo. SegaBits followed up and noted that it had received similar leaked images from a survey in July 2022.
