Our Town Foundation is encouraging holiday shoppers to support small and local businesses by coming to downtown Hamburg for Small Business Saturday on Nov. 25. Dine and shop at participating businesses for a unique and meaningful experience this year.

OTF, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Hamburg, created shopping passports to get stamped every time shoppers visit a participating business.  Those shoppers who visit at least 10 of the participating retail businesses, and also dine in one of the participating eating establishments, will be entered into a drawing to win one of two baskets filled with gift cards and donated items from the participating businesses.

In addition, many of the businesses will be offering special activities, refreshments, and discounts on that day.

Passports can be picked up at any of the participating businesses on the day of the event: 1787 Brewing Co., Art & Craft Gallery of Hamburg, Blue Mountain Herbals, Body by Yei, B’s Sip & Paint, Burkey and Driscoll Home Furnishings, Copperz Brewing, Four Twelve Coffee, Hamburg Antique Center, Josephine’s Oil & Spice, Know;Body Botanicals & Apothecary, Lazy Dog Vintage, Lou’ees Pizza, Lucky Leprechaun Vineyard & Winery, Mema’s Memories-Antiques & General Store, New Life Thrift Store, Pizza Como, Sweet Treats, Three Strands Community Center, Thren’s Auto Parts, What Matters Co. Barbershop, and Windsor Distributing.

Small Business Saturday was first observed in the United States on Nov. 27, 2010, as a counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which feature big box retail and e-commerce stores respectively. By contrast, Small Business Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to patronize brick and mortar businesses that are small and local.

Small Business Saturday continues to be an annual holiday shopping tradition — just one part of the larger Shop Small Movement that supports small businesses every day and everywhere.

As Hamburg’s community revitalization non-profit, Our Town Foundation asks shoppers to make an impact on their local community and shop small on Small Business Saturday and all throughout the holiday season.
