In less than five weeks’ time, big industry names from across the South will gather to share their insights, knowledge and experience at Venturefest South’s Festival of Innovation.
The showcase event takes place at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton on Thursday 16th November, with the venue split up into various zones offering something for every visitor.
First up is the Collaboration Zone – the main hub for the festival and home to the ‘Innovation Talks’ stage.
Speakers from Innovate UK, British Business Bank, Solent Partners and more will take to the stage to debate and share ideas around some of the biggest themes affecting and driving innovation, entrepreneurship and business growth.
Together they’ll run four sessions throughout the day, covering The Future of Sustainability in Innovation; Marketing Innovation and AI; Funding and Support; and The Life of an Innovator.
Next door, the Innovation Zone will host some of the region’s freshest startups, disruptors and businesses, offering visitors the chance to network and explore potential investment opportunities.
This year’s exhibitors include a business recycling oil drums into toolboxes, a university spinout working to equip microsatellites with remote sensing technology, and Amara Automotive, whose founder Tamara Ivancova spoke with Hampshire Biz News recently about the company’s four-wheel e-bike.
They’ll be joined by emerging talent in the New Entrepreneurs Zone, a showcase for new inventions, innovations and fledgling business ideas.
Visitors will also have the chance to step up and pitch to the audience at the Open Mic event, which has grown over the years to be a highlight of the festival.
Ed Gould, Creative Director at Carswell Gould, said: “I love running Open Mic – we get brilliant and brave people sharing ideas and innovations.
“Every time we’ve done it, we’ve been reminded of just how dynamic the South’s innovation economy is.
“This year, we have a bigger stage and we’re nestled in the heart of what promises to be the most exciting zone at the festival. Bring it on!”
The most impressive entry will be crowned Open Mic Pitching Champion, with other prizes available throughout the day for Innovator of the Year, Early Stage Innovator, and Sustainable Innovation Leader.
