Jamie Robinson, director of communications and stakeholder engagement for the Ottawa Stage 2 LRT Confederation Line Extension, said the incident happened around 7:30 a.m. and knocked out power at nearby Tops Car Wash until about 12 noon.

There were no injuries. He said Hydro Ottawa and police and fire units were at the site.

The incident occurred in the parkway tunnel running under Byron Park, west of Woodroffe Avenue. A video posted to Facebook appeared to show a fire in the tunnel.

A similar incident took place in the same area last November, when a crane hit hydro lines, knocking out power to nearly 2,300 Hydro Ottawa customers.
