Two behavioral health professionals have joined Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota in Alexandria.

Heather Cogger is a licensed professional clinical counselor who provides counseling to individuals ages 10 and older, couples and families. She is also a licensed drug and alcohol counselor. Her areas of specialization include addiction and substance use, anger management, conflict resolution, relationship counseling, self-care, and stress management. Cogger works primarily with Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques and will utilize other modes of therapy as needed to help individuals achieve their goals. She holds a master’s degree in Community Counseling from St. Cloud State University.

“I am thrilled to be joining the Behavioral Health team at Lutheran Social Service,” she said. “In my work, I strive to make people feel safe to share their concerns and well supported to face their fear and gain empowerment over their lives.”

Erik Rundquist joined the LSS Behavioral Health team as a behavioral health practitioner and will provide counseling to individuals of all ages, couples and families. His areas of specialization include anxiety, couples counseling, depression, family relationships, grief and loss, premarital counseling, and trauma. Rundquist focuses on systemic approaches to families, couples and individuals in crisis. A recent graduate of St. Cloud State University with a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, he is adept at engaging and working with a wide range of psychological and emotional challenges.

“It’s such a privilege to walk with individuals to help them achieve health and wellness, along with their personal goals and dreams,” he said. “My goal in working with others is to help them experience how wonderful they are — and to resolve any challenges of mind or spirit that interferes with their ability to appreciate themselves and thrive in their lives.”

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota recognized 85 honorees from across the organization with the prestigious 2023 Spirit Award at a luncheon celebration in St. Cloud. Honorees from the Alexandria area include Rose Peterson, direct support professional, disability services; and Carol Baune, designated coordinator, host homes

The award honors employees who demonstrate outstanding commitment and dedication to the vision and mission of the organization. Honorees are nominated by their supervisors.
