Northolt resident Amelia Charles is celebrating after receiving £2,023 in funding towards her new business.
Amelia was one of seven A2Dominion customers who made it to the final of the housing association’s Enterprise Programme and shared a total of £14,272 in funding.
Amelia’s business, Create U Ltd, is a small start-up based in Northolt producing a range of dolls for children. Her dolls are designed to reflect a more diverse and cosmopolitan community, offering children greater representation in their toys.
The A2Dominion Enterprise Programme has been running for 11 years and has supported 500 customers with business skills and personal development.
This year, the programme helped seven entrepreneurs develop their business ideas, complete market research, create business plans and learn pitching skills through six months of workshops.
All participants put their knowledge to the test in two knockout rounds before being chosen as this year’s Boardroom finalists. The panelists included A2Dominion’s Director of Specialist Housing, Jo Evans, A2Dominion’s Director of Customer Experience, Gary Blatcher, and five other esteemed business leaders.
A2Dominion’s Director of Specialist Housing, Jo Evans, praised the finalists for their quality, professionalism, and determination to succeed.
The six other winners of this year’s Enterprise Programme also secured funding and a one-to-one business mentor to help them put the investment to good use. A2Dominion also runs a Business in a Box programme that offers even more support for entrepreneurs.
A2Dominion is committed to investing in the communities it manages homes in, supporting vulnerable people and building partnerships with residents, local councils, and businesses.
The company’s community investment initiatives focus on financial inclusion, employment and enterprise, and health and wellbeing.
