The latest round of business support packages has just been announced by North Devon+, the region’s economic delivery partner for both Torridge and North Devon District Councils.
The programme is the second phase of their successful Business BOOST programme, which has already supported 128 businesses across a variety of different business sectors. The assistance has focused on helping businesses take an in depth view of their circumstances, priorities and options to create and implement realistic action plans for development and growth. The emphasis has also been on helping business owners incorporate effective restart and recovery approaches following the disruption wrought by the recent covid pandemic.
The Business BOOST programme will be funded by both local authorities through grants from central governments UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKPSF) as part of the levelling up agenda. The scheme is aimed at small and micro businesses, with up to 50 employees with a turnover of less than £10m. Phase two will continue to provide free one to one businesses support tailored to the needs of their business. As well as working with a business advisor entrepreneurs may also be eligible for a small business support grant of up to £1,500 subject to qualifying criteria and available funding.
Councillor Bob Hicks Lead Member for Economy and Estates at Torridge District Council says: “The first phase of the programme has already helped many businesses improve their performance, grow and develop, create jobs, increase turnover and reduce costs. Quite an achievement in what remains a difficult trading environment. We look forward to further success led by the team at North Devon+.”
Councillor Malcolm Prowse Lead Member for Economic Development and Regeneration at North Devon District Council says: “Businesses have really been able to prosper from the one to one design of the Business BOOST programme, which tailors the support with an understanding of the specific needs and circumstances of each business. We would encourage both first time and experienced business owners to get in touch and find out how their own business could also benefit from this approach.”
