FORT MYERS, Fla. – After securing the No. 3 seed for the ASUN Tournament, the FGCU junior Fanny Norin (Stockholm, Sweden/Thoren Business School) has been named tp the All-ASUN First Team and senior Emma Bardet (Vichy, France/Long Beach State) earned a spot on The All-ASUN Second Team. The honors were announced Wednesday by the conference office.
“These two ladies are wonderful leaders for the team,” said FGCU head women’s tennis coach Courtney Vernon. “They are very hard-working and determined, and the program has been very blessed to have them both.”
Both Eagles were instrumental in leading FGCU to a 15-6 overall record and 6-2 league mark. The duo also helped propel FGCU into the ITA’s top 75 women’s tennis squads, peaking at No. 70.
This is Norin’s third All-Conference award for the Green & Blue – as she was a ASUN First-Team and ASUN Freshman First Team selection in 2021, and earned a spot on the ASUN Second- Team last season.
Norin registered an overall 13-6 singles record and 5-2 mark in league action this season. She delivered victories over St. John’s, MTSU, Army, FAU, Mercer twice, Toledo, Cincinnati, UCA, North Florida, Bellarmine, Lipscomb, and Liberty.
Norin also registered an 8-8 doubles record in 2022-23 – defeating non-conference opponents such as Army, FAU, USF, Mercer and Cincinnati along with a 3-2 showing in league action at the No. 3 pair with sophomore Isabella Colmenares (San Cristobal, Venezuela/Colegio Juan XXIII).
Bardet went 10-9 in singles this season, with major non-conference victories over St. John’s, Army, USF and Mercer twice. Bardet holds a 5-3 record in ASUN play.
The French native was paired all season long with senior Ida Ferding (Vasteras, Sweden/Akademi Bastad Gymnasium), and leads the Eagles with 10 doubles wins – including key non-conference victories over MTSU, St. John’s, Army and FAU. The duo registered a 4-4 record in league action.
Bardet was named ASUN Player of the Week on Feb. 22 after helping FGCU secure major victories against Mercer. She earned two singles wins in addition to two doubles matches in back-to-back competition.
Norin, Bardet and the Eagles will begin their quest to become 2023 ASUN Champions at 10 a.m. Saturday, taking on the winner of sixth-seeded Kennesaw State and 11th-seeded Eastern Kentucky – a match will take place 1 p.m. Friday at the FGCU Tennis Complex.

In 2022, the men’s golf team became the first program to earn an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Nine FGCU programs have earned a top-25 national ranking in their respective sport – including women’s basketball (No. 20 in 2021-22 and No. 22 in 2022-23), baseball (No. 15 in 2023), beach volleyball (No. 20 in 2022), and both men’s soccer (2018, 2019) and women’s soccer (2018) as five of the most recent. In 2016-17, the Green & Blue posted a department-best sixth-place finish in the DI-AAA Learfield Directors’ Cup and top-100 showing nationally, ahead of several Power-5 and FBS institutions. In 2018-19, the Eagles had an ASUN and state of Florida best seven teams earn the NCAA’s Public Recognition Award for their Academic Progress Rate in their sport. FGCU also collectively earned a record 3.67 GPA in the classroom in the fall 2022 semester and has outperformed the general University undergraduate population for 27 consecutive semesters. The past seven semesters (Fall 2019 – Fall 2022) saw another milestone reached as all 15 programs achieved a 3.0-or-higher cumulative team GPA. The Eagles also served an all-time high 7,200 volunteer hours in 2017 – being recognized as one of two runners-up for the inaugural NACDA Community Service Award presented by the Fiesta Bowl.
