The Guardian of Small Business award, one of NFIB’s most coveted and prestigious honors, is given to legislators to recognize their efforts to support small business issues.
AUSTIN (Dec. 21, 2023) – “Texas small business owners have a friend in Rep. Meyer,” NFIB State Director Jeff Burdett said. “His efforts to rein in out-of-control property taxes and deliver meaningful relief have helped to keep Texas open for business. Our members are grateful to Rep. Meyer for his 100% voting record on small business issues. We thank him for standing up for local job creators.”
“Creating an environment that allows small and medium businesses to thrive not only attracts more business, but also provides opportunity and growth that strengthens our communities, our families and our future,” Rep. Meyer said. “I’m honored to be named as a ‘Guardian of Small Business by NFIB’, because these businesses are the heart of Texas, and the key to leaving our next generation an even stronger Texas.”
Representative Morgan Meyer — (R-Dallas)
First elected in 2014, Rep. Meyer serves as Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee and Chair of the Select Committee for Sustainable Property Tax Relief. Throughout his time in the House of Representatives, Rep. Meyer has led the charge to lower property taxes and provided hundreds of millions in property tax relief each year. He was the House author behind the tax relief package that passed in the 2nd special session that NFIB supported, specifically SB 2 relating to property tax relief for all property owners. His efforts in the 2023 legislative session earned him a 100% on the NFIB Texas voting record.
Background:
