In March, Samsung agreed to pay UK Nanotechnology Company Nanoco USD 150 million in a patent infringement dispute over patents used in QLED televisions that featured legal team from Wei Chixue Law Firm of Linda Liu Group – a Top 10 IP Law Firm in China.

Nanoco had filed patent infringement lawsuits against Samsung in China, the United States, and Germany, alleging that the latter’s QLED televisions infringed on several of its patents related to the synthesis and use of quantum dots.

In its China battlefield, Wei Chixue Law Firm served as their counsels and guided them in asserting four of its Chinese invention patents, navigating the complex legal landscape and the market of paramount significance for high-end QLED televisions for players. The team was led by the seasoned litigator Sai CHEN who is often seen as a trump card in China IP related litigations by both Fortune 500 and medium-sized high-tech companies.

Nanoco CEO Brian Tenner said: “Today marks the start of a new chapter for Nanoco. We have successfully validated our core IP against one of the world’s biggest electronics companies, who were advised by one of the most expensive law firms in the world.”

No visionary business strategist would ever risk failure by ignoring China’s importance as a major market and a jurisdiction in leverage. Including China into their global action plan and make wise use of its rules would help securing a position in monetizing your portfolios and more.
