LANCASTER – After over a year of researching the industry standards, New Horizons Mental Health Services is making a significant investment in its employees and announced the implementation of a new salary and benefit structure.
The new system is aimed primarily at clinical staff and will bring all positions at or above the state and national averages.
“This change reflects our appreciation and commitment to our clinical staff for their efforts in providing quality services to our clients and community,” said New Horizons CEO, Phil Pack. “We are hopeful this is just the beginning of a series of initiatives to further support our colleagues and their families and recognize the importance of their good work.”
New Horizons had previously raised its minimum wage to $15 per hour for all reception and phone staff. These initiatives include expanded health benefits, improved retirement planning, additional holidays, and paid time off for all employees.

Clean Up Day in Carroll
CARROLL — The Carroll Business Association is sponsoring a Clean Up Day in Carroll on Saturday, May 13. Members of the group will be picking up trash on the streets and parks, sweeping the shelter house, gazebo, and sidewalks downtown, weeding flowerbeds, and washing off picnic tables and benches.
The Carroll Garden Club will be planting flowers earlier that week in downtown urns and Benson Park. The Village of Carroll is providing trash bags.
Members should meet at Carroll Cup Coffee House at 10 a.m. before heading to different areas. Anyone else who would like to participate is welcome as well. They expect to be done by noon.
To support local businesses, please consider coming early to the coffee house and/or having lunch at a local restaurant afterward. Also, the Carroll Lions Club will be hosting a car show from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. downtown.
In the spirit of community, residents are encouraged to take that day to spruce up their properties as well.
The mission of the Carroll Business Association is to promote and support local businesses. The next meeting will be May 17 at 12 noon at the Fillin’ Station restaurant. All business owners, managers, or those who have customers in the Carroll area are welcome to attend.
The Board of Health elects new officers
LANCASTER — The Fairfield County Board of Health elected new officers at its regular monthly meeting on April 12.
Brian Oliver of Rushville was elected President and Dr. Teresa Wood of Pickerington was elected President Pro Tem. In addition to elections, incumbent Board member, Tina Childers of Lancaster began a new five-year term and Dr. Michele Morrone of Baltimore was appointed to fill the unexpired term of long-time board member, F. David Petty who passed away in 2022.
Local Boards of Health were established by Ohio Revised Code (chapter 3709) and are designed to serve as the governing body and health authority for the area with which they serve. A Board of Health is appointed by the Health District Advisory Council and has two primary functions, appoint a Health Commissioner and appropriate funds to the local Health Department which works every day to prevent disease, protect the environment, and promote healthy lifestyles.
The Fairfield County Board of Health meets the second Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. at the Health Department located at 1550 Sheridan Dr. Suite 100 in Lancaster. The public is welcome to attend.
