A new R1.6 billion Club Med beach resort is coming to Kwazulu-Natal’s North Coast.

According to Trade and Investment KwaZulu-Natal’s 2021/22 Annual Report, Club Med is an international beach resort with 70 facilities globally.

The resort will be operated by Hong Kong-based Fosun, which will be the majority shareholder. Local companies Royal Shaka Property Group, GFS Holdings and Collins Residential will also co-own the resort.

The resort, which is set to be located in the town of Tinley Manor, is set to have the following amenities and features:

  • 342 four-star resort hotel rooms
  • Self-catering timeshare resort units
  • Fractional ownership villas
  • Niche retail, entertainment and cultural centre
  • 20-minutes to King Shaka International Airport
  • 30-hectare site north of Tinley Manor

Royal Shaka Property Group said that the resort will primarily host families, couples and conference groups.

It added that 50% of the Club Med market returns to a resort every three years, with 60% of attendees being in family groups.

It noted that the resort’s operations will sustain 530 direct jobs and 1,500 indirect jobs once completed. 1,000 construction job opportunities will also be created via the project.

As reported by Moneyweb, although the project has not been formally announced, it is expected to be completed in 2026.
