Full planning permission has been granted for a change of use for an annexe at a residential house in Pin Mill Road in Chelmondiston.

It is located on the banks of the River Orwell, within the Suffolk Coasts and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Currently used as an annexe, it will become short-term self-catered holiday accommodation, for stays less than 31 days, with four new car parking spaces.

There is around 45 square metres of open-plan ground floor accommodation in the annexe, with the studio including a living and dining space and bedroom, furnished to sleep two people, and a separate kitchen and utility areas.

According to the business plan, the accommodation will be marketed and managed on an online booking flatform.

It is “primarily for couples seeking a peaceful break” of a minimum of two nights in the off-season and one week during peak holiday time.

There are plans for employing one or more part-time employees to support the business with housekeeping and visitor support.

The application was made by an officer at Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Council, and approved by Babergh District Council on April 5.
