Navan adds NDC content from four European flag carriers

Travel management company Navan has added New Distribution Capability (NDC) content from British Airways, Finnair and Air France-KLM, bringing its total NDC offer in Europe to ten airlines.

NDC content from the four carriers is being released gradually, according to the TMC’s website. NDC content from British Airways is currently available for customers based in the UK and the Netherlands, while Finnair NDC content can be accessed by customers in the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Ireland and Singapore.  

NDC content from Air France-KLM is currently available for customers based in France, the UK and the Netherlands. 

The TMC, which was formerly known as TripActions before rebranding earlier this year, also provides NDC content from Lufthansa Group airlines Air Dolomiti, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, Lufthansa and Swiss International Air Lines, which it began integrating in late 2019.  

NDC represents a savings opportunity of up to 12 per cent depending on the airline, according to Navan estimates, since it doesn’t incur GDS surcharges, and fares via NDC can be up to 35 per cent less expensive, according to the TMC.

Depending on the route, Navan estimates that up to 57 per cent of fares published by an airline could be missing from booking tools solely powered by EDIFACT channels.

Commenting on the NDC integration, Michael Riegel, GM of Navan in Europe said the region is “complex” to navigate “due to the sheer volume and type of supply that TMCs must support”.

“Over the past two years, we’ve invested heavily in the region, creating deeper connections with partners to ensure local supply options at the best possible price — without compromising on the user experience,” he added.

The TMC said it sources inventory “through multiple GDSs, aggregators, and direct connections” and that its NDC content is “optimised” to provide travellers with the same self-serve capabilities expected from GDS bookings, such as flight changes and cancellations.
