- N-Dubz released their fourth studio album in August after an 11 year hiatus
British rapper Dappy has landed himself in hot water over an Instagram rant allegedly threatening to shoot his business associates over a £580,000 cash row.
The N-Dubz artist, 36, claimed he had been left more more than half-a-million pounds out of pocket and named an agent and management firm ostensibly responsible, according to The Mirror.
The paper reported that Dappy posted a gun emoji and wrote: ‘If anyone owed me even just a pinky [£50] on da roads I’d bunnn dem.’ Bun refers to shooting a gun.
‘These funny looking fed c***s think they can just rob me like this and that’s mad. Watch [when] I actually see one of you.’
The English singer-songwriter from Camden is the lead singer of hip hop and grime trio N-Dubz, which he formed with his cousin Tulisa and rapper Fazer in 2000.
The Instagram post appears to have been deleted and is no longer available on the channel.
Dappy, with 377,000 followers on the platform, released his fourth studio album with N-Dubz, Timeless, on August 4, 2023.
The group formed in 2000 and rose to considerable success in the noughties before disbanding.
At their height, the group produced two platinum-certified albums, two gold-certified albums, won five MOBO awards, received a Brit Award nomination and had thirteen top 40 singles.
Dappy, real name Costadinos Contostavlos, and his cousin, Tulisa, later pursued solo careers – with Tulisa going on to mentor groups on the X Factor, including Little Mix.
In 2010, Contostavlos appeared on The Chris Moyles Show on BBC Radio 1 with Tulisa and Fazer.
On the show a listener texted in to complain about Dappy, calling him ‘a little boy with a silly hat’.
The singer copied her phone number and later tried to call her before sending her threatening messages including: ‘Your [sic] gonna die.’
His management team later apologised on his behalf.
Dappy went on to have a successful solo career, re-recording No Regrets as his debut single in 2011 and reaching number one in the UK Singles chart.
He was later arrested by armed police in 2017 after allegedly threatening to ‘stab officers in the face’.
The former N-Dubz star, 29, was said to have been in an altercation with a woman outside a property in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, with police called to the scene.
Officers responded to reports he had allegedly attacked the woman with a tennis racquet and had to be ‘pulled off her’ by four students.
He was ultimately given a nine-month suspended sentence.
MailOnline contacted the singer’s representatives for comment.
