GEORGETOWN — A Murrells Inlet-based appliance store has expanded its operations with a new location in Georgetown.

Swift Appliance recently opened a store at 1719 Highmarket St. in the Highmarket Square shopping center. The company has an existing location at 5190 U.S. 17 in Murrells Inlet but already has a footprint in Georgetown with a warehouse on Kaminski Street.

“We want to build our business here, bring more money into the community and just help make this a better place to live,” owner Ryan Swift said.

Swift Appliance began in 2012 with a Mount Pleasant store. Swift said the company no longer has that location, but they opened in Murrells Inlet in 2016.

Swift said they decided to move forward with the Georgetown expansion because it is a growing area with a close-knit community.

The store sells a wide range of appliances including refrigerators, dishwaters, stoves, washers and dryers, microwaves and outdoor grills. It carries 27 brands, including Whirlpool, Kitchen Aid, Maytag, Hot Point, Bosch and GE, according to its website.

Swift said they can cater to high-end clients or those who just want a base model. He said what sets them apart from big-box stores is their devotion to customer service.

“You find a lower price, we are either going to beat it or do the best we can to do even better,” Swift said. “If our customers need anything, they know they see the same person when they walk through the door. It’s not a new person. It’s not someone random. That’s what we take pride in. We have really good employees and a great delivery team. We just take care of our customers.”

Georgetown resident Natasha Dones, who attended a Dec. 5 ribbon-cutting ceremony for the store, said it is nice to have another local business to buy appliances.

“We needed another place for appliances because previously you would have to go to Home Depot or Myrtle Beach,” she said.
