WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI — There are all kinds of businesses with big plans to open in Washtenaw County, from a pet supply shop in Ypsilanti to a new toast boutique eatery in Ann Arbor.

However, despite some new businesses coming in, there also are a few closing, including Moosejaw in Ann Arbor.

Here’s a roundup of recent Washtenaw County business stories you might have missed.

Moosejaw in Ann Arbor, other Michigan locations set to close

Moosejaw’s time in downtown Ann Arbor is coming to an end.

The outdoor retailer at 327 S. Main St. has its last day set for Wednesday, Jan. 17. This closure will join the the majority of other Moosejaw storefronts across Michigan.

The Fillmore Bar & Grill has ended its time in Dexter

The Fillmore Bar & Grill’s time in Dexter has come to an end.

The restaurant known for serving seafood and pasta shared on Facebook its last day was Saturday, Dec. 30.

Not just toast, but Toastique! Boutique eatery set to open 1st Michigan location

Toast is far more than just a slice of buttered bread for one new eatery opening in Ann Arbor.

Toastique is planning to open in April at 200 E. Washington St. and feature a menu packed with bowls, cold-pressed juices, smoothies and, of course, a wide range of toast.

What’s that? Mother-daughter trio is behind new Dexter boutique

A new boutique in Dexter is the definition of a true family-run business.

Lily’s Place opened in December at 3219 Broad Street Suite 102 and sells a variety of products like women’s clothing, jewelry, gifts and children’s items primarily sourced from other small businesses.

The Diablo Burger is ‘not for the faint of heart’ at Regent’s Field in Ann Arbor

Regent’s Field in downtown Ann Arbor is a bar truly dedicated to University of Michigan sports.

Co-founders and Michigan alums Jacqueline Buda and Nevada Tinsman opened Regent’s Field on South Main Street in late 2019. Since then, it’s become known as a destination to watch sports.

What’s that? Ypsilanti business focused on art is moving to a new larger location

Ypsi Art Supply & Atelier is planning to expand into a new, larger spot in Ypsilanti.

The art supply shop opened in April 2023 at Riverside Arts Center, 64 N. Huron St., selling things like pencils, charcoal, ink, markers, colored pencils, acrylic paints and watercolors.

Ypsilanti will soon lose a spiritual place.

The Conjure Goddess Botanica and Metaphysical Shop is closing its storefront Sunday, Jan. 21, and is set to operate completely online after its last day.

What’s that? Ypsilanti is getting a new business for dog and cat lovers

Pet owners will soon have a new spot to check out in Ypsilanti’s Depot Town.

Depot Town Cats & Dogs is planning to open at 46 E. Cross St. sometime in March. The new shop is set to feature supplies like food, accessories and toys as well as grooming for both cats and dogs.
