Jackson, Miss. (June 12, 2023) – Mississippi companies interested in exporting goods and services to Canada can participate in the upcoming Southeastern U.S.– Canadian Provinces Alliance Conference with the Mississippi Development Authority.
MDA will lead a delegation of business leaders and economic development professionals at the annual conference July 23 – July 25 in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
“Through vibrant trade and shared economic ties, Canada and Mississippi have built a strong foundation for collaboration,” said Mississippi Development Authority Deputy Executive Director Laura Hipp. “Canada is Mississippi’s top export partner. At the SEUS-CP Alliance Conference, Mississippi companies and economic development professionals have an exceptional opportunity to forge new partnerships with our Canadian counterparts, expanding our reach and fostering growth in the Canadian market.”
The SEUS-CP Alliance is a strategic partnership that promotes trade and investment opportunities between its member states and provinces. In addition to Mississippi, member states include Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Member provinces include Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Québec.
The event will feature the Business-to-Business Matchmaking Program, which identifies potential strategic partnerships and business development opportunities between delegates. Pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings and panel discussions will take place in the following key sectors: asset protection, clean energy, port development and sustainable transportation.
Grant assistance is available to qualifying Mississippi export-ready businesses (in accordance with U.S. Small Business Administration requirements. The assistance is available on a first-come, first-served basis through the SBA-funded Mississippi State Trade Expansion Program.
