(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 4 – Business and Made in Italy Minister
Adolfo Urso on Thursday instructed Italy’s price surveillance
watchdog to convene the government’s new rapid alert commission
to analyse pasta price dynamics after it registered a 17.5% year
on year increase in March.
The price surveillance guarantor Benedetto Mineo, will ask the
alert panel to assess the situation in light of a fall in the
prices of raw materials and the “variable dynamics of energy
costs and other production factors,” a statement from the
ministry said.
It is the first meeting of the alert commission, which was set
up by the recent ‘transparency decree’.
The commission has been convened next Wednesday at 14:30.
The price of pasta recently exceeded two euros per kilo. (ANSA).
