The transport secretary said he was answering the question “but in my way” when asked about the home secretary’s comments on an Armistice Day protest calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Gaza war.

Mark Harper said ministers were “focussed” on making sure police had the legal powers they needed, and the planned march went ahead in a lawful manner.
