Nathan Hay has joined Alera Group, formerly Group Benefits LLC, as an Employee Benefits Producer. Hay has five years of sales experience from the Human Capital Management SaaS space. He joins the Alera Group to consult with Mid-South executives and business owners on employee benefits and deployment strategies.
Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare added a new provider, Steffi Thomas, to its Methodist Medical Group – Rheumatology practice in the Memphis Medical District. She is a board-certified physician who completed a residency in internal medicine and fellowship in rheumatology at the University of Connecticut and earned a doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. Her areas of expertise include rheumatoid arthritis, seronegative arthritis, polymyalgia rheumatic, lupus, vasculitis and connective tissue diseases.
Scott Smith has been appointed market chief executive officer of Tenet Healthcare’s Memphis market and chief executive officer of Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis. Tenet’s Memphis market also includes Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett. He has nearly 20 years of experience leading hospitals in several different markets, most recently as market chief executive officer of Tennessee-based LifePoint Health in Arkansas at National Park Medical Center and Saline Memorial Hospital. Smith earned his master’s degree in Business Administration and Management from Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi.
The Greater Memphis Medical Device Council announced the hiring of Chris Locke as its new executive director. Locke is a 27-year veteran of the health care industry serving in hospital executive leadership roles over his tenured career. He most recently served as the chief executive officer of Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett, part of the Tenet Health System. Locke also previously served as chief operating officer of Atlanta Medical Center and Spading Regional Medical Center.
The Carter Malone Group has a new assistant account executive/multimedia specialist with the addition of Ramon Johnson, who has more than 11 years of multimedia production experience. The Memphis native previously served as an investigative photojournalist for WREG News Channel 3. Beyond his work in journalism, Johnson also has contributed to the education sector as an audio and visual instructor for Frayser Community Schools. He earned a bachelor’s degree in science with a concentration in electronic media production from Middle Tennessee State University.

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare is the best hospital in the Memphis region and second in Tennessee, according to U.S. News & World Report. Of 4,500 hospitals evaluated, only 12% received a Best Hospitals ranking. All four Methodist Le Bonheur Memphis-based adult hospitals — Methodist University Hospital, Methodist North Hospital, Methodist South Hospital and Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital — earned the “Best” designation for providing exceptional clinical expertise and high-quality patient care.
