Here’s a look at promotions, hirings, movers and newsmakers in the Memphis area business scene:

Mariah Hotard, manager of talent acquisition and development at Rhodes College, has been selected to participate in the 2023-24 CUPA-HR Ignite program, a 12-month leadership development experience designed for early career higher education human resources professionals. Program participants will have the opportunity to develop their professional skills through tailored learning experiences including mentorship, learning events and courses, and the completion of a project showcasing the insights they gain throughout the year. Hotard joined the Rhodes College staff in 2021 after working as a recruiter at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She has a master’s degree from Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Participants were selected based on their HR strengths and areas for development identified on the program application as well as their interest in, and commitment to, the program.

The cardiology practice at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare has a new provider with the addition of Ekanka Mukhopadhyay to its facilities on Wesley Drive and Union Avenue. He is a board certified physician specializing in general and interventional cardiology. He completed a cardiovascular fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago and a cardiovascular fellowship and internal medicine residency at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. He earned a medical degree from Maulana Azed Medical College in New Delhi, India.

The Christian Brothers University Board of Trustees announced its election of new officers and the addition of three new members for the 2023-24 academic year. Emily Sawyer Greer assumes the position of Chair of the Board of Trustees, having previously served as Vice Chair. She has served on the Board since 2012 and replaces Louis “Bo” Allen, who has served as Chair since 2021. Michael Keeney will move into the position of Vice Chair, having served as Treasurer since 2021. Keeney has been managing shareholder at the Memphis office of the Lewis Thomason law firm since 2014. Paul J. Posey Jr. will serve as Treasurer. He has been a CBU trustee since 2015. He is Chief Executive Officer of Robin Healthcare in Berkley, California. The Board of Trustees also elected three new Trustees — Brother David Poos, Brother Patrick Conway and Robert Hall — to join the board for three-year terms. Poos has been the president of Christian Brothers High School since 2019. Conway is the director of McLaughlin Social Justice Institute and former Vice President for Mission and Identity at CBU. Hall joined the family business, Hall Manufacturing, in North Little Rock, and was named president of the company in 2002. In 2005, he purchased Hall Tank Company, a business that was founded in 1952 by his grandfather and then founded the Hall Group, which is now the parent company for Hall Manufacturing, Hall Tank Company and Hall Logistics.

NOTEWORTHY

The Office of Communications and Marketing at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, along with leaders of the UT System Communications and Marketing Office, received top honors from national and Tennessee public relations competitions for the planning, execution and promotion of last fall’s “Everywhere You Look, UTHSC” tour, a statewide tour to emphasize UTHSC’s presence and mission across Tennessee. The communicators took home a gold award for media relations and a gold award for special events seven days or less, the highest honors in those categories, from the Tennessee College Public Relations Association at its convention May 24-26 in Gatlinburg. The work on the tour also netted the communicators a platinum award, the highest honor in the category for communications campaigns, in the 2023 Hermes Creative Awards, one of the oldest creative competitions in the world. The UTHSC Office of Communications and Marketing also won a bronze award for a redesign of the College of Pharmacy view book.
