McGill’s buses makes offer to Amazon employees guaranteeing interviews – Scottish Business News

MCGILL’S Buses has made an offer to all Amazon staff at risk of redundancy to guarantee them an interview for a range of vacancies it has available across Scotland.

Earlier this week, Amazon announced plans to close its distribution centre in Gourock, putting about 300 jobs at risk and leaving many staff at risk of redundancy.

McGill’s — which is owned by brothers Sandy and James Easdale — was named Public Transport Operator of the Year in 2022, with its head office located in Greenock.

Reflecting on the offer, Sandy Easdale said:

“The news regarding Amazon Gourock was extremely disappointing not only for the employees and their families but also for the Inverclyde economy as a whole.

“In an attempt to show our support to those at risk, the McGill’s Group is offering a guaranteed interview for those who are looking for new opportunities.

“We have a range of roles available across our three depots at Greenock, Inchinnan, and Johnstone which may be of interest to those at risk whose skills could be easily transferable.”

The McGill’s Group has invested heavily in its business and services over the past few years, including the purchases of Xplore Dundee, First Scotland East, and its partnership with FlixBus.

All currently available roles can be found at https://www.mcgillsbuses.co.uk/careers and Amazon employees should highlight in their email that they are an Amazon employee.
