Cath Crowther, who oversees the regional team for the Country Land and Business Association (CLA East), will be taking a break from the role from the end of October after announcing she is expecting her second child.
Her maternity leave will be covered by Mark Riches, a former CLA regional director in the Midlands, who has also held the post of director of programmes within the organisation.
Following his appointment, he said: “Having worked for the CLA for many years I never cease to be impressed by how innovative and entrepreneurial CLA members are.
“I am acutely aware of the challenges and uncertainty that the agricultural transition [from former EU subsidies to new environmental incentives] has presented for many, but it is the CLA’s role to help members navigate these complex issues and highlight future opportunities. I look forward to being part of that.
“During my time in the region I hope to meet many members and learn more about their businesses and how we can help them to thrive.”
Mrs Crowther said: “I am extremely excited to be expecting my second child and am delighted that Mark will be joining the team while I am away.
“The agricultural sector continues to go through a period of significant change and our members should feel reassured to have Mark leading the team in the east.
“With Mark’s vast experience within the CLA and his extensive background as a rural surveyor, I can think of no better person to have representing our region.”
