Macau has recently dispatched
representatives to a travel agents’ fair in Singapore in its latest push to
attract foreign visitors.

According to a press
release from the Macao Governement Tourism Office (MGTO), the local delegates –
including MGTO Deputy Director Cheng Wai Tong and representatives on behalf of
10 enterprises – attended the the National Association of Travel Agents
Singapore (NATAS) Holidays Fair between 11 and 13 August.

The first day of the
fair saw a networking session between Macau and Singaporean representatives to
explore cooperation and exchange views on potential products.

“Running a booth in the
20,000-square-metre exhibition space of the NATAS Holidays Fair 2023, MGTO
promoted Macau’s world heritage, events, hotel facilities and leisure travel
experiences, in a showcase of the diverse destination,” said the MGTO.

Thanks to air
connectivity, Singapore stands in the top 10 sources of foreign visitors for
Macau. Before Covid in 2019, as many as 115,742 travellers flew to the city
from the city state.

Southeast Asia has been
on the radar of the authorities looking to expand international tourism since
Covid receded early this year.

Late last month, the government flew a delegation to Kuala Lumpur for the Malaysia International Travel Mart 2023 organised by the Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association.

Besides, a group of Indonesian
delegates appeared in Macau recently to learn about the city’s latest offerings
in tourism.
