Hello A-J readers!
In the week’s business news, we learned about an upcoming indoor play park, Milestones Development & Play Park, 6301 Marsha Sharp Freeway. Cassie Johnston, executive director and co-founder of the Lubbock-based Alström Angels foundation, said Milestones will be a park for all children.
“There’s just so many great things that can happen inside these walls,” Johnston said. “Even though we’ve made it with our special needs children in mind, this is for everyone. Hopefully, everyone’s experience here will be enjoyable, and everyone will feel accepted and welcome.”
The facility will open on Dec. 1, and memberships are available to purchase at milestonespark.org. Read the article to learn why she wanted to create an indoor park and a nonprofit for a rare disease, along with all the details on what the park will offer.
August wrapped up last week, which meant that the monthly round-up of business openings, closings and announcements in Lubbock published. The month saw a boom of business, with more than 30 entries. That included nine restaurant openings, seven retail openings, and four business and restaurant closings.
About half of the entries on the August round-up came from recent announcements. Among those entries were Summer Moon, Neko Chan Cat Cafe, and Milestones Development and Play Park.
Looking into next week, keep an eye out for where people can find their favorite fall drinks (yes, I know it is September and 90-plus degrees). I’m also tracking down details on a handful of new businesses and planning to feature a company that has been serving the community for a century.
Readers should also see my review of the AT&T Jones Stadium’s newest concessions in the coming days, ahead of Texas Tech’s first football home game against Oregon Saturday in Lubbock. I’ll share my opinions on what fans should try this season
As always, thank you for reading and supporting the A-J.
