It has been a busy week for business news, with the end of October, the beginning of November, and a slew of stores and eateries set to open soon. Here’s a look at what published this week, and what is in the works.
With the end of October, the monthly business roundup published in Wednesday’s Avalanche-Journal. At least 10 businesses opened, five closed and five announced locations coming soon. Read the article for the full details on what happened business-wise in October.

The first of the month brought the sudden closure of the 509 Drink Shop, 6301 82nd St. #101. The business opened in early 2023, and closed due to personal reasons.
On Tuesday, the article about Sprinkles Cupcakes gave further insight into why the company decided to open a bakery and two cupcake ATMs in Lubbock. Gabriella Mosqueda, marketing spokesperson for the Lubbock location, also revealed that the grand opening on Nov. 9 will offer chances to win free cupcakes for a year.
“My personal favorite is the triple cinnamon, because it has buttercream icing with cinnamon on top, and I love cinnamon,” Mosqueda said. “It’s my absolute favorite. We also have pup-cakes, which my dog loves so much.”
