Scarecrow hunt coming to downtown Loveland

The Loveland Downtown District will hold a Scarecrow Scavenger Hunt Oct. 13-31.

Businesses can sign up to sponsor a scarecrow or can create their own scarecrows. Artists have also been selected to create scarecrows.

Installations will take place on Thursday, Oct​.​ 12.​

A Scarecrow Scavenger Hunt app will be released prior to the hunt starting.

Columbine facilities earn five stars

Fort Collins-based Columbine Health Systems recently earned a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for each of its skilled nursing facilities.

It was rated “much above average” in the categories of health inspections, staffing and quality measures, according to a news release.

The rating places Columbine’s four skilled nursing facilities – Centre Avenue Health & Rehab, Columbine West Health & Rehab, Lemay Avenue Health & Rehab and Columbine Commons Health & Rehab – among the top 21%  of nursing homes in Colorado, the release said.

• Human Bean Northern Colorado raised $5,400 for local food bank​s​ on Aug. 18, when the company donated $1 from every drink sold at any Human Bean Northern Colorado location. Proceeds were distributed between the Food Bank for Larimer County, Windsor Severance Food Pantry and Weld Food Bank. On Sept​.15, ​H​uman Bean presented a check for $1,800 to each nonprofit.

• On Sept​. 2 and July 1, Wilbur’s Total Beverage hosted Hamburgers for Hospice​, which raised $1,200 for Pathways Grief and Loss Program, an initiative that offers counseling, support groups, and creative therapies to help individuals cope with grief following a loss or during a serious illness.

• HWY 34 RV will host complimentary winterization classed Saturday, Sept. 30,at its new location 6175 W. 10th St., Greeley. The class is designed to show RV owners the necessary steps to winterize their vehicles at home. Each class will be limited to 10 people, and there will be a class every 20 minutes beginning at 10 a.m. with the final class at 11:20 a.m. A Q&A session and a solar panel demonstration will be offered 11:20-11:40 a.m. Registration is required. • Guardian Storage will offer a free Shred-It event at 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 7 at its location at 1057 Buckingham St, Fort Collins. The service is free, though the company will accept donations of cash or unopened school supplies at the event to help support the Kids in Need Foundation.
