Have an incredible business idea? Waiting on the perfect moment to share it? That moment is here, as the Alabama Entrepreneurship Institute hosts its latest River Pitch competition.
If you’re familiar with the TV show “Shark Tank,” you know the drill: Entrepreneurs get 3 minutes to pitch their idea to judges. The 10 best pitches get $1,000 to help expand their business ideas.
The competition is happening Nov. 14 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Tuscaloosa River Market, and it costs nothing to register to present an idea. Registration ends Nov. 5. Students and professionals alike are welcome and encouraged to apply.
Although a $1,000 prize is great, participants also walk away with valuable insight and advice for getting their ideas off the ground.
River Pitch rules and requirements include:
- There is no entry fee to participate
- Teams must register to compete
- Competition is made for early-stage businesses or ideas
- Previous winners may not pitch the same idea
- Student and community competitors will be assigned to different booths and judges
- Only one person can pitch the idea, but team members can help answer questions
- No slides or presentations are allowed, but a reference card for the pitcher is OK
- Individuals have 3 minutes to pitch their idea and 5 minutes for questions
- All ideas must be original
You can check out past winners right here.
