Low-income households will continue to receive financial support in Bracknell Forest as the Household Support Fund will be extended for another year.
The decision-making Executive meeting took place today (21 March), agreeing the council’s plan for the distribution of the fourth phase of the Household Support Fund from April 2023 to March 2024.
This funding is provided by the Department of Work and Pensions. It is dedicated to supporting those most in financial need, particularly in relation to food costs and essential bills.
Cllr Dr Gareth Barnard, executive member for children, young people and learning, said:
“I am pleased we can continue to support residents that are in financial hardship. This funding can help those who would not automatically qualify for other cost of living support schemes.
“During the previous phase of funding, which started in October 2022, the council provided support to over 4,000 households. We aim to continue to support our residents who are most in need.”
Full details on this funding, including eligibility criteria and how it will be distributed, will be published on the Household Support Fund web pages at the beginning of April.
