Live: Wall Street rises, profit reporting season continues, ASX set for flat start

Good morning, welcome to the ABC Markets Blog.

Wall Street closed higher, boosted by technology stocks as chipmaker Nvidia jumped on optimism about AI.

The Nasdaq put on 1 per cent and the S&P500 rose 0.6 per cent.

The Australian dollar fell to 64.55 US cents overnight because of fears China’s largest private property developer Country Garden could default. 

Yesterday, the Australian share market hit a four-week low on worries about the problems in China’s property industry.

Companies reporting profit results today include vaccine maker CSL, jobs website Seek and Treasury Wine Estates.

And the latest data on wages will be out, as well as the minutes from the Reserve Bank’s board meeting earlier this month.
