Netflix has released a sneak peek for its upcoming heist comedy film Lift. Starring Kevin Hart as professional thief Cyrus Whitaker, the F. Gary Gray-directed feature is scheduled to debut on the streamer on January 12, 2024.
In the newly released clip, Hart is seen getting in on the action together with his heist crew at over 40,000-foot in the air. You can watch it below:
What is Lift about?
The upcoming film from The Italian Job and Set It Off filmmaker will see a band of professional thieves trying to prevent a terrorist attack after their leader’s ex-girlfriend recruits all of them. In order for them to prevent the impending threat, they will perform a heist on a plane — above 40000 feet in the air, to be exact — to steal $500 million worth of gold from a vault.
“A professional thief and his expert crew attempt the ultimate heist: stealing $500 million in gold from a vault on a plane — 40000 feet in the air,” the logline reads.
In addition to Hart — who has starred in a slew of Netflix features, including The Man from Toronto, Fatherhood, and Me Time — the Lift cast members also include Gugu Mbatha-Raw (A Wrinkle in Time) as Abby Gladwell, Vincent D’Onofrio (Strange Days) as Denton, Billy Magnussen (Game Night) as Magnus, Jacob Batalon (Spider-Man: No Way Home) as N8, Jean Reno (The Da Vinci Code) as Lars Jorgensen, and Sam Worthington (Fractured) as Dennis Huxley.
Úrsula Corberó (Money Heist), who is no stranger to starring in a heist-themed show, will also appear in the film as Camila. The rest of the cast includes Viveik Kalra, Yun Jee Kim, Burn Gorman, and Paul Anderson.
The upcoming comedy heist was previously scheduled to hit Netflix in August 2023. It is co-produced by Matt Reeves (The Planet of the Apes), with Gray, Brent O’Connor, Patricia Braga, Genre Pictures, and 6th & Idaho. Hart and Brian Smiley serve as producers.
