The company expects to report record global retail sales for the 52 weeks ended July 29 of $1.64 billion, up 9.7 per cent on fiscal 2022 sales. Premier Retail now expects record earnings before interest and tax (excluding significant items) within a range of $355 million to $357 million, an increase of between 6 per cent and 6.6 per cent.

As it evaluates the case for a spin-off, sales at pyjamas brand Peter Alexander have more than doubled from five years ago. In March, Premier flagged it was considering overseas markets for the brand.

Peter Alexander plans to open 20 to 30 new or larger-format stores in the near-term in Australia and New Zealand.

Its other growth brand, Smiggle, has an established international presence and operates about 300 company-owned stores in Australia, NZ, Singapore, Malaysia, Britain and Ireland. The children’s stationery store is also exploring new geographies.

Premier Retail’s apparel segment spans its five heritage brands: Portmans, Just Jeans, Jay Jays, Jacqui E and Dotti.

In June, The Australian Financial Review revealed multiple executives were leaving the business.

Premier said on Monday that it sought to ensure each of its brands was best positioned to take advantage of all opportunities.

“The review will consider a range of options, and will include a review of Premier’s corporate, operating and capital structure, including dividend policies and a separation of the group into two or more distinct entities by way of demerger. The review will examine capital requirements, business plans, management structures, separation costs and any cost dis-synergies,” it said in its statement.

“Given the range of issues to be considered, there is no certainty that the review will result in a change to Premier’s current corporate, operating or capital structure.”
