To provide access to quality education and close the practical skill divide in Africa and beyond, an e-learning platform, Learnstar is set to launch in Lagos next month.
Speaking on the initiative, Chief Executive Officer, Learnstar, Kshitij Sainani, said the platform is the e-learning destination for creatives, professionals and those who aim to learn something new.
He disclosed that courses in the programme are developed by celebrities, and A-listers in the entertainment, business, tech, and sports sectors, to avail students of their vast experience.
Sainani identified some of the facilitators to include celebrities such as Asa Asika, who would coach on music business and Swanky Jerry on fashion. He said the idea to launch the platform was borne out of the fact that education remains the solution to the wide range of problems confronting the country.
He said the platform aimed to help in increasing the literacy and employment level by two per cent in the next five years. He said Learnstar will kick off with six subjects and would add one subject every month.
Speaking further on the short course masterclasses, Sainani noted that the duration for each course would vary from two to four hours. Sainani said: “Based on our studies, we realised that in today’s world, the millennials and the Gen Z, have little or no time to do a three or four-month course online. So, what we’re going to do is provide shorter courses. Then, we are going to offer scholarships to the students to go to Dubai or other countries, where they can do a programme for three or four months with practical learning, not only online.”
“We have plans for 6,000 subscribers in the first two months, with a growth rate of five per cent onward.”
