Learning About Business is now accepting online applications for LAB Week 2024 which will be held June 16-21 on the Lake Erie College campus in Painesville.
The students will live on campus from Sunday morning through Friday afternoon concluding with a formal commencement from the program, according to a news release.
All applications need to be submitted by April 26. The program has 65 slots and receives students from all over Northeast Ohio each year so applying as early as possible is recommended, the release stated.
“LAB Week also serves as a tremendous college-prep experience where students learn how to meet, interact and work with complete strangers,” the release stated.
Learning About Business is a nonprofit organization that conducts a week-long business summer program for high school students. The students have an opportunity to experience an intense mini-MBA program; earn three college credits; learn from business professionals; work in teams to develop leadership skills, make executive-level decisions in a simulated environment; and, come to understand the value of business in local, regional, national and global markets.
LAB Week offers a daily business theme: Teamwork & Leadership, Fundamentals of Business; Marketing; International Business; Management/Labor; and Entrepreneurship.
LAB Week utilizes a computer-simulated marketplace where students work in teams of five to run a drone manufacturing company and compete against each other for market share.
Volunteers from the business community along with the LAB staff oversee the work atmosphere, provide advice, demonstration and counsel to the students throughout the week, the release stated.
Interested students can apply at www.learningaboutbusiness.org/apply-now-new. Contact LAB or contact Marie Graf at info@learningaboutbusiness.org.
