South American airline LATAM will commence a service from London Heathrow to Lima, Peru on 2 December.

The new five-times weekly service will be operated on Boeing 789 aircraft with a flight duration of 12 hours.

Flights from Heathrow will depart on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday on 22:30 and arrive in Lima at 06:35 the following day. Flights from the Peruvian capital depart at 21:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and arrive in London at 14:00 the next day.

LATAM Airlines regional commercial director for central and southeast Europe, UK, Nordics, Middle East and South Africa, Davide Ioppolo, said the new service represents “a historic milestone” for the carrier as it provides the only direct service between Peru and the UK.

The carrier operates services to South America from Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany and the UK, including a four-times weekly service from London Heathrow to São Paulo, Brazil.
