Lance Reddick’s cause of death has been listed as the result of heart disease, according to a death certificate obtained by TMZ.
According to TMZ’s report, the acclaimed actor passed away last month due to Ischemic Heart Disease and Atherosclerotic Coronary Artery Disease. The former involves the heart being weakened by reduced blood flow, while the latter is a disease typically caused by the body’s arteries building up plaque.
Prior to his passing, Reddick was in the middle of doing promotion for his role in John Wick: Chapter 4, and during the premiere and subsequent promotion for the film, Reddick’s castmates honored him by wearing blue ribbons.
Best known for playing Cedric Daniels in The Wire from 2002 through 2008, the talented actor also found success on other hit television series, such as Bosch, Fringe, Lost, and Oz. Reddick also found success in movies and put forth memorable performances in Charon in the John Wick franchise and Guillermin in Godzilla vs. Kong. He also ventured into the realm of video games as he had key roles in Quantum Break, Horizon Zero Dawn and its sequel, and Destiny.
Most recently, Reddick was seen as Albert Wesker in Netflix’s Resident Evil series and as Renzo in Farzar. He’ll be seen as Zeus in the upcoming Percy Jackson and the Olympians Disney+ series, as well as White Men Can’t Jump and the John Wick spin-off movie Ballerina.
