Femi Hamzat, deputy governor of Lagos state, has said Lagos state is building a food and logistics hub in Ketu, and it sits on 132 hectares of land, which means we will have an enormous a of agricultural products.

He said this at Nordic Nigeria Connect 2023, held on Thursday in Lagos that the idea obtained was from Sweden.

“We took that idea from Sweden, where they have a hub where they distribute flowers around the world and it is a huge business,” Hamzat said while speaking about Lagos state’s building of a food and logistics hub.

He said Lagos State looked at Sweden and thought about how to replicate it in Lagos.

Central Logistics Park is a logistics centre under construction in Ketu-Ereyun, between Epe and Ikorodu. It will be the largest food logistics centre in sub-Saharan Africa when completed.

This is located at a facility site being built on 1.2 million square meters of land in Ketu-Ereyun, Epe.

The central food and logistics hub is expected to create direct wealth for more than 5 million traders in the agricultural value chain when completed while also guaranteeing uninterrupted food supplies to more than 10 million Lagosians for at least 90 days in a period of scarcity.

According to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State governor, the facility would cut out several layers of middlemen and facilitate improved access to modern processing and packaging services.

Hamzat, deputy governor of Lagos state stated that in terms of climate change, Lagos is planning for sustainable energy production.

“Lagos has done a lot of study on energy mix, what can we get from solar, some of those studies were done given with interaction with Nomadic countries, but we can look at how to implement based on our relationships,” he said.
