PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Koppers releases its 2022 Corporate Sustainability Report, outlining its sustainable products and strategies for its employees.
This week, Koppers published its CSR, or Corporate Sustainability Report, for 2022, according to Yahoo Finance. In it, there is an overview of Koppers’ Sustainability strategy “in the areas of People, Planet, and Performance.”
In its efforts to develop and maintain a sustainability strategy, Koppers has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 49% since 2007 and improved its safety performance with more than half of its 34 facilities (19 in total) remaining accident-free.
Additionally, Koppers has “issued a number of patents, including on a process to produce a coal tar pitch with low impurity content that has the potential to serve the emerging electric vehicle (EV) and lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery markets globally.”
In the 82-page report, Koppers points to its wood treatment products that “not only help extend the lifespan of crossties by up to 40 years – they also help reduce deforestation, preserve natural carbon stores and increase the overall reliability of wood products across various industries.” Along with its wood treatment products, Koppers also demonstrates its Sustainability strategy through its “bonded rail joins and track components for freight, transit, high-speed and heavy haul needs, along with a number of railroad services.” The full report can be found here.
Koppers’ Chief Sustainability Officer stated that sustainability grows deeper within Koppers more every year and that the “growing sense of ownership by our leaders and teams, supported by regular communication on progress and new ideas, all combine to keep our sustainability-driven culture on a positive path forward, as demonstrated by our results in 2022.”
