Enock Hosea Wamare, a 30-year-old man from Muhanda in Gem
Constituency, Siaya County, has reportedly been killed in South Africa where
he plied his trade.

Wamare, known by the nickname ‘Blacky’, is
alleged to have been fatally stabbed by his work colleagues at his house in
Cape Town.

The deceased has resided in South Africa
since 2013 when he received a scholarship from Maseno University to go further
his studies in pure accounting at the University of Cape Town.

According to his brother Washington Obara,
who spoke to the Nation, he later ventured into business and operated a hairdressing
salon, a spa as well as a taxi in South Africa’s capital city.

Mr. Obara said the family received news on
Wednesday night that their kin had been killed by his workmates in the taxi
business.

“I
received a call from my sister at 1am informing me that Enock had passed on.
When I checked with friends in South Africa, they told me that my brother was
attacked at his home by people he worked with in the taxi business,” he told
the Nation.

“They told me that my brother drove his
would-be killers to his house where they stabbed him to death.”

The family is now appealing to the government
to take up the matter and help them unravel the mystery surrounding their kin’s
death, and to also repatriate his body back to the country so that they can
give him a proper burial.

“We
want justice for our late brother. The Kenyan Embassy in South Africa should
take up the matter and launch an investigation. The perpetrators must be
brought to book,” Obare stated.
