MAYFIELD, KY — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is asking the public for their input on a permit request for a new entrance along KY 121 Dick Castleman Bypass in Mayfield.
According to a news release from KYTC, the permit request from MIDCO Building Products is to create a new access point to the company’s location at 1040 Dick Castleman Bypass.
Kyle Poat, the KYTC District 1 chief engineer, says their considering the request for a new right-in/right-out only entrance.
Poat says MIDCO wants to build the entrance at mile marker 6.686 of the KY 121 Dick Castleman Bypass. “This is approximately 750 feet north of the existing MIDCO entrance. It is designed to reduce congestion and enhance safety at the company’s main entrance at the East Douthitt Street intersection.
According to KYTC, the permit would require a break in the existing partially controlled access along the bypass, but the new entrance would give SEMI trucks an additional access point to the company.
Anyone who wants to hold a public hearing on the permit request should contact Kyle Poat by mail at the KYTC District 1 Office, 5501 Kentucky Dam Road, Paducah, KY 42003 or by phone at 270-898-2431.
If a hearing is not requested by Thursday, Dec. 28, KYTC will consider issuing the permit without a public hearing.
