Luxury brand JW Marriott has opened its first hotel in Spain with the unveiling of a new property in the capital Madrid.
The 139-room JW Marriott Hotel Madrid has opened next to the Puerta del Sol in the centre of the city, with most of its suites on the upper floors having their own terraces with views across Madrid.
JW Marriott is one of 30 brands operated by Marriott International and is classified as being a “classic luxury” brand – Marriott’s other brands already have a sizeable presence in Madrid and across Spain.
The new property’s restaurant will be run by Michelin-starred chef Mario Sandoval, while ingredients will be grown in El Patio JW Garden for both the dining outlet and cocktail bar.
Other facilities in the historic building, which was formerly one of Madrid’s oldest perfumeries, include a fitness room and wellness area. In-room experiences are also available with yoga mats provided in every room and free access to video workouts and meditation practices via QR codes.
JW Marriott currently has 10 hotels in Europe, including the JW Marriott Grosvenor House in central London, which will again host the Business Travel Awards Europe 2023 on 30 October. JW Marriott also opened its first hotel in Berlin in January.
